Safe and sustainable water

Our Research

The Szczuka lab uses fundamental chemistry to understand how we can provide safe and sustainable water for all. The lab focuses on best practices for lowering the chronic health risks associated with chemicals of emerging concern and lowering the acute health risks associated with pathogens in impaired water. We develop engineering controls that reduce treatment costs and make safe water more accessible, and collaborate with academics and practitioners. Our home

Our lab is located in the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering building on North campus. We are part of the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at U-M. Our headquarters is newly renovated, and we have brand new equipment ready to help us answer our research questions!
